Here are the simple steps to choose your own sound for each Windows Vista event.

You can find different sound files in the windows special media folder C:\WIndows\Media

and you can add more sound files from your own.

1. Go to Control panel in Classic View, and select Sound icon. 

2. You will be prompted to the following screen.

3. Go to Sounds tab and select windows event that you want to change from Program section.

4. Then click on Browse button to locate and select the sound file you want to associate with the selected event.

5. You can also add your own sound files to  C:\WIndows\Media and use them for different windows events as described above.

6. You can preview your sounds by clicking Test button

7. Click Apply and then OK to close the dailog box.
